Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about our countertop services

How does getting new countertops through CountertopSmart work?

CountertopSmart helps you explore countertop materials, preview how they may look in your space, and receive instant quotes from local countertop professionals. Once you choose a material and move forward, the next steps typically include an in-person measurement, final quote approval, payment, and installation.

Are the quotes I receive final?

No - quotes provided before an on-site measurement are estimates. Final pricing is confirmed after a professional laser measurement is completed and all project details, edge selections, cutouts, installation conditions, and material availability are verified.

Why is an in-home laser measurement required?

A laser measurement captures the exact dimensions and site conditions needed to fabricate your countertops accurately. It also helps confirm sink locations, overhangs, edge details, seams, and any field conditions that can affect pricing or installation.

Do I need to be home for the measurement appointment?

Usually, yes. Someone with access to the home should be present so the countertop professional can verify the space, answer any project questions, and confirm final details before fabrication moves forward.

Can I choose my exact slab online?

In some cases, you may be able to review slab options online, but exact slab selection depends on the material, supplier, and local availability. If your project requires slab approval, that step is typically coordinated after the project moves forward.

Why can't the stone distributor just give me the price directly?

The stone or slab itself is only one part of the total countertop cost. Final pricing also depends on fabrication, edge work, cutouts, sinks, project complexity, and installation requirements, which are handled by the countertop professional rather than the distributor.

Is the AI visualizer an exact representation of what my finished countertops will look like?

No. The AI visualizer is meant to help you compare styles and get directional confidence in a material choice. Natural variation, slab movement, lighting, layout decisions, and final fabrication details can all affect the finished result.

When does installation happen?

Installation typically happens after the in-home measurement is complete, the final quote is approved, and fabrication is finished. The exact timing depends on material availability, fabrication lead times, and your local installer schedule.

What payment options are available?

Payment options can vary by project and installer, but most projects involve a deposit before fabrication and a remaining balance due around installation. Any available payment methods or financing options are confirmed as part of the final quote and checkout process.

What should I know before moving forward with a countertop replacement?

Before moving forward, it helps to confirm your material choice, review the estimate scope carefully, understand what is and is not included, and prepare for common project considerations like plumbing disconnects, backsplash removal, appliance clearances, and access to the work area.

CountertopSmart makes it easy to browse, select, and buy countertops from the best local providers. Shop the widest collections of surfaces, get instant competitive estimates, and enjoy fast, precision installation
